The BLQ got together again for the first rehearsal of the new year, on Ben Smith's birthday. Placing the mic right next to the PA, elevated off the ground with an upside down trash can really does the trick as far as capturing the Andy Powell bass sound. Most of the old tunes are intact, but the group decided to run through some standards just to make sure we could still play jazz.
